The Numbers Game

Ruminating on advantage of investment
On foreclosures and takeovers
Focusing on paper pyramids
On investment portfolios of financial security?
Lock it up with yourselves
In a gilded vault.
I may not be able to buy gasoline
But my house is unlocked
And I gaze toward beauty
And I love
And I smile.

Two Fair Lonely

Two fairly lonely but passionate souls discovered each other
Under one wondrous Gibbous moon.
Once in each other’s embrace, they began creating an entire world
Complete with smiling trolls, ballet Cupids, and fanciful sea monkeys;
A complete population of warm fuzzy creatures arose from their pleasure.

They talked, laughed, complemented each other
Between soft caresses and long embraces entire worlds became alive
Fields of wild flowers sprang from nowhere and sweet hibiscus
Scores of earth spirits waved banners from overhead branches,
Confetti fell in blizzards of psychedelic ribbons.

They had running streams all their own
They had ripe mangos, fine wine, garlands of orchids
They had hot springs, perpetual second chances,
They had tuxedoed island orchestras playing encore after encore
To celebrate desires that emanated as naturally as spring wind.

Darts of warm contentment projected through their softened gazes
They had feelings percolating through nearly forgotten depths of their souls
As genetic codes, neural roadways and body temperatures changed
They began to smile or laugh out loud
Having rediscovered harmony and all the resplendent zeal of life.

They both hoped without speaking
That the routine scheduled world
The one of expectations, posturing and manipulation
Would not mount the embroidered buttresses of their dream castle
And sentence them to exile in the real world
The one they had so deliciously left behind.
