If you live in the country and you’re not a Drunk, 
What do you do?
First, he said, get a Palm Pilot.
 
Some Nephew though it would be a good idea
To get Uncle Nick up to speed.
But instead of planting tomatoes,
Garlic and green beans,

He began to make lists
As he scheduled out his days. 

He planned to practice violin,
Finish the rockwall around his garden,
Plant his seeds and watch them grow.

But instead he sat in the kitchen
And tried to think of Everything
He had to do that week, 
That month, that year.

By four o’clock he sat at the kitchen table,
Finally Finished Filling his planner
With plans.

The next hour was spent
Ranting about technology,
Because he had wasted his afternoon

And not found the time
To do his daily yoga

So he put the device 
In a dusty drawer

Poured himself a drink
And walked out the backdoor
And into the Garden.
