Opportunity
High Contrast Review, read around the world since 2009, needs an editor.
Duties:
• Solicit content on Craigslist, from creative friends, and through university writing and journalism departments around the world.
• Respond to submissions by graciously rejecting or enthusiastically accepting via company provided email address.
• Select images to accompany written works via the Creative Commons, from your own stash, or elsewhere.
• Editing submissions for grammar, length and taste, and crafting summaries for each.
• Posting and scheduling 1-2 articles per week in WordPress.
• Occasionally writing original pieces.
Total weekly time commitment: 5-10 hours.
Compensation:
• Initially, editorial positions are a volunteer affair. This is negotiable with time.
• The editor’s name and city will grace the masthead.
• Experience in content management and digital publishing with WordPress.
• Power. The tone of the magazine will, to a noticeable degree, be in your hands.
• In the past, University Credit has been obtainable for similar positions (for enrolled students).
The ideal candidate is a student of creative writing, literature, or journalism, or can demonstrate independent proficiency in the literary arts. Dependability, passion, and positive tone are mandatory, as is the ability to communicate with metered eloquence. To apply, please email a cover letter, CV with at least two references, and a brief (400 words or fewer) sample of your own writing to sk@highcontrastreview.com.
